Jingle Bells
Tonight the scouts went caroling at Garden Way. Jackson was so proud, wearing his uniform, singing quietly and smiling as each door opened. Great job Jackson, again you made me a proud Mommy.

Cub Scouts
Jax needed/wanted and activity that was just his. Cub Scouts is right up his alley. Knot tying, crafts, pumpkin derby, singing carols, games, oh my. Every Tuesday night we venture to Cub Scouts to say the Pledge of Allegiance and do boy stuff for an hour. An hour that is all his.

Untie your shoes
Simple rule for mom-when you get home, untie your shoes and put them in your shoe cubby.
What happens when you don't-in the morning when it's time to go at 7:36, you need to put your shoes your feet. When they are tied in double knots and you get frustrated...well you know what happens.

Patience!
Patience. Breathe. Success.
Rough night. Lots of tears. Mom stayed calm. Bedtime was a success.
Message to be learned by one 7.5 year old-talk to nice to mommy and don't hit. Breathe and count to 10.
Sounds simple to me, but not to my ETL kiddo!

Rough 20 minutes this evening. All started with an accidentally hurting of cooper during a couch jumping exhibition. Started talking about what a rotten kid he is. Hid in bed room. Told him to take a shower, he didn't in the time frame. Shut water off. Hid in bedroom. Again with negative self talk. Said he was trying to think about what he should have done. Took his art supplies away, and he blew up! Quickly calmed down. Took a shower, pjs, read and bed:(. Im exhausted. I can only imagine how he feels.
Love you Jax.

Another good day
Ride home was good. Able to redirect self. Home was wonderful again. Bed time had a couple "out of bed" moments. And he pulled it together to fall asleep.
Phew:). Love you little man. I'll keep praising and you keep breathing and counting!

Day 7
It's been a week of ups and downs. Today I had a 1:1 with the new doctor, whom we respect and trust.
The ride home was great! Jackson has been following directions, helping Cooper and made sandwiches for dinner. Good day over all. Couple hours til bed time, let's hope the bewitching hour stays away!

Bow and Arrow
Hey Mommy
Yes Jax
When I am older, like 21, can you buy me a bow and arrow?
Yes Jax, when you are 21, I will buy you a bow and arrow.
Good, cuz I want to shoot something to eat.

Summer begins... Schedule ends:(
Ugh. Mommy you're stupid. Mommy you're not nice. I don't care what you say. That's how I've spent my last 2 night. Every so often I get an apology and an I love you.
I shouldn't take it personally, but it hurts.

Last Baseball Game
Tonight was Jax's last baseball game. He played wonderful! Caught grounds, hop step to first base for the out. It was great to see the big smile on his face, knowing he was playing well and able to be focused! He hit well too.
Season is over now. Baseball season was good for my boy, and my boy was good for baseball.

Sleepover meltdown
Sleepovers are far and few between. It's hard to explain to him that he needs to ask his friend what they want to do, and it's not all about him. Or when we offer the friend the sleeping bag-and there's a 1 minute panic attack-until mom gets the other one.
Thankfully they are side by side, watching the baseball game, chatting away.
Sleep tight my little man. I love you.

China Sharing Day
This afternoon was Jackson's China sharing day in class. The class put on a wonderful presentation, including a play. Jackson had a speaking part and did fabulous! A little fast at first, and then slowed down and said his lines clearly. Nice job kiddo! I am proud of you.

It was a good day
This morning was good. Answered 100 questions, and life was smooth sailing. Afternoon was good. Y was fun, playing at home was good, following directions (albeit 100 times to tell to do things) was good, completed all stars on behavior chart....
Big change tonight- Coop and Jax are being split up. For the last 3 weeks have coming out of their room at least 100 times a night. Tonight Jax will be sleeping in the playroom (sleeping bag and books) and Coop in his room.
That would be the last star for today...let's hear it for staying in bed!
Please!

Impulsive
How do I explain to the world that he isnt able to control his impulses? Playing statue tag, gets excited with a karate move and wonks friends mouth with his head. Ugh!
Brother is no help - "you did it in purpose!"
Mommy hugs can't fix it. :(.

Bob. He is my 7 year old. It's a name he gives himself when he is playing and laughing. Frank is the youngest, and Billy Bob Joe is the oldest. Bob is my middle and he has ADHD. When Bob was 4, at his doctors check up, I asked about his hummingbird like movements. I knew. Through the summer prior to kindergarten and the beginning of the school year, I was in constant detour and stopping mode. I became very good at using my wonder woman like reflexes to block a lot of the triggers that came his way. Then in Spring, I realized that we needed help. Not just Bob, but all of us. We went to see a counselor, worked on behavior and rewards, and had an angry kit for when we needed a moment to escape. It worked for a little bit, and then I realized we needed more help. Right before Christmas we made "the appointment" with his pediatrician. And so it began. Our journey into ADHD land.
